About Kody

After arriving at a rescue in New Jersey in late 2018, Takoda "Kody" quickly captured the heart of one of the volunteers, who was fortunate enough to adopt him in February 2019. Since then, Kody has been thriving in his new life, gaining confidence and excelling in therapy work. His joyful and loving nature has made him a joy to be around, bringing happiness to all those who encounter him.

Finding Joy

In "Kody Meets A Mustang" we learn the story of a formerly wild mustang who lives on the same farm as Kody does. In this book we are bringing Sunny's story to the mainstream to help bring awareness of the plight of our iconic Mustangs.

Every year, several mustangs lose their freedom as they are rounded up by low-flying helicopters and placed into holding facilities.

Often, these facilities lack shade and shelter, and the horses are separated from their families. Some even attempt to escape by jumping the high corral fences. While some are adopted, many others are moved to long-term holding facilities, where there are estimated to be around 62,000 mustangs and burros.

The use of taxpayer money to round up and care for these animals raises questions. Many believe that it is to accommodate cattle ranchers who graze their cows on public lands and feel that the horses compete with their livestock for grass.

This raises concerns about the treatment and welfare of these wild horses, and the motivations behind their capture and confinement.

What can you do?
